Wk 3; On page 8 of your sketchbook, make 3 studies of your own choice using colour materials. Negotiate your work in class with Mr Coultart

Extension: look at the example sketchbooks.

Select a black and white photograph of a face. Then, on page 33 of your sketchbook, make a gridded drawing of your chosen portrait photograph following the advice given in class. Look at the two tutorials here

Wk 18: On p32 of your sketchbook, draw 9 pairs of shoes in ballpoint pen or gel pen. You can draw the same pair of shoes 9 times or draw 9 different pairs. Put a background shade behind some of the drawings. Due Mon 11th Feb

Week 14:   On page 28 of your sketchbook, draw some eyes - show as much detail as you can and use a large range of shades. Look at the videos to give you some tips:

GCSE Art homework - Due in the first week of September

On the first page of your new sketchbook, make a title page including the words, "Project 1 - Abstract Art"

On Page 2 make 4 abstract colour collages using colours from magazines.

On page 3 make 4 greyscale abstract images using shades from magazines.

On Page 4 make a study of the artist Gillian Ayres. Copy two images and write notes about her.

On Page 5 make a study of the artist Piet Mondrian. Copy two of his abstract images and write notes

                                                         On Page 6 of your sketchbook, draw 4 simple linear studies that get increasingly complex. The first should use 8 lines of one colour, the second add another  8 lines of a second colour, the third add again a further 8 lines of a third colour and the last should add the last 8 lines of a final colour.

                                                         Week 4 - On Page 9 of your sketchbook, make an Artist's Study of an abstract artist of your own choice. It must be someone established and with a national or international reputation. Use your Writing About Art sheet to help you make thoughtful, intelligent notes. Copy two pieces and make a version of your own

Week 6 - On Page 12 and 13 of your sketchbook, make some abstract designs as shown in class. Use a watercolour base. Make the colour intense and keep the designs simple. Use layering.

Week 7 - Task 1: Over pages 14 and 15, make a series of abstract designs on shaped supports. Use wet and dry materials.

Also, over half term, improve, enhance or complete any homework you have tackled this term. If you missed any work do it this week and over half term. You can check the homework tasks below.

Week 8 -  On page 16 make a set of abstract images of your own design. Choose a theme and follow it. Make 4 to 5 pictures.  Make sure they are advanced, aesthetically pleasing images. Use interesting materials.

Week 9 -  On page 17 develop each of the studies you made last week by switching the colours, changing the materials or making them monochrome.

Week 10 -  On page 18 make an artist study of an appropriate abstract artist. Choose from the link or research your own.

Week 11 -  On page 19 Make three studies for your Main piece. You should attempt to blend the themes Order and Chaos following the ideas and techniques used in class this term. Due Wednesday.

Week 12 -  On page 27 of your sketchbook make a title page for your second project, "Me, Myself and I".

Week 13 -  On page 18 and 19 of your sketchbook refine your studies for you "Abstract" main piece: Add dots, add lines, add shapes, modify the colour, shift the tonal range, try an unsual shaped support.

Week 15:   On page 29 of your sketchbook, draw some noses, mouths and ears - show as much detail as you can and use a large range of shades

Wk19: On one page of your sketchbook draw a pair of shoes or boots. The focus should be on making the objects appear three-dimensional and solid. Use shadow and shading to help create the effect. Due Mon 25th Feb

Choose three pieces of work you like doing or thought you were successful at. Make a page of studies that develop them. Make each study on different types of paper.  Plan three larger extended studies from your choices.

On page 35 of your sketchbook, make an artist study of a new artist for your theme. Try these links or negotiate an artist in class with Mr Coultart.

Choose your best main piece idea and, on page 36 of your sketchbook, make a series of studies that further develop the idea. Use a range of different materials and techniques and write notes to explain your thoughts....

Wk 26: Refine and adapt your main piece in the "Me, Myself, I" project. Include sketches and studies and written notes about your plans. Use a range of materials. Check the GCSE handbook for further advice. Due on Monday 29th April.

Wk 28.  This is a catch-up week. Trawl through your sketchbook and complete any unfinished studies and improve or modify studies you feel could be better. Concentrate on blank white space and dark tones.

Wk 33. Complete your "Me, Myself, I" sketchbook. You should have finished 20 sides. Ensure you use a variety of materials, the full range of tones and that you have written intelligently and descriptively about your project as it progressed.

Wk 34 Select your theme from the 2019 Externally Set Assignment paper. On Page 1 of your new sketchbook, make an interesting title page. On P2 make a monochrome "Mark-making" sheet and on P3 make a b&w one. On P4 make a sheet of small studies appropriate to your theme.
