Year 7 HW 2020 - 2021

This is catch-up week. Have a look at all the pieces you have tackled in your sketchbook and improve, modify, enhance or complete them.

Wk 2; Look at the pictures by Mary Fedden in this link.

Choose one of them and make a copy of it in colour on half of page 1 in your sketchbook. Using your vocabulary sheet, write two comments about her work.

Week 3 On half of page 3, draw a sphere, a cube and a pyramid. Use shadow and shade to make them appear  3-dimensional. Use a range of shading. Look here for the video of task.

Wk 1 On half of page 1 of your sketchbook, draw 6 frames and fill each with a different type of shading. Look at this example for inspiration.

Week 4; Look at the pictures by Frida Kahlo in this link

Choose one of them and make a copy of it in colour on half of page 3 in your sketchbook. Using your vocabulary sheet, write two comments about her work. Due in next week's lesson

Wk5 - On p4 of your sketchbook, write an evaluation of your Composition project.1.Write about the artists you looked at. 2. Write about the homework and classwork tasks. 3. Write about drawing your final composition 4. Write a self-assessment. See the outline given in class here

Wk 7 - On half of page 6, draw an eye, as shown to you in class. Use pencil.

Find a portrait by the artist Julian Opie. Make an accurate copy of it. Underneath write the artist's name, the title of the piece & the date it was made. Use artistic vocabulary to describe the work. This is due in your lesson in week 9

Find a portrait by Tamara Madden. Make a copy of it on half of a page of your sketchbook. By the side write the artist's name, the title of the piece and date it was made. Finalise your idea for your main piece in the Face project. On a half of one page in your sketchbook, draw a frame and then choose one of the ideas from the lesson and sketch a more detailed version of it. Label it, explaining the materials and techniques you will use. Your plan should include plenty of detail and information.

This is a CATCH Up week. Complete or improve any homework you have done so far. Add titles and names of artists to your work and write any descriptions. If you missed a homework, you can check them all here.

Week 13 - Conduct your own research into a portrait artist. You must choose one picture of which you should make a copy. You can use books or the Internet. Add the name of the artist, the title of the piece and the date it was made.

Draw a picture of a leaf - try to capture the beautiful autumn colours. Look here for brilliant examples:

Wk16 -Write an evaluation about your Face project following the guidance to help you write about all aspects of the work the prep sheet, the eye painting and the homework, explaining the main pieces and making an assessment of successes. Have a look at the evaluation outline here;

Wk 17 - On one page of your sketchbook draw a long rectangle as shown to you in class. Divide it into 5 equal sections. Shade each section in a progressively darker tone. Start with the lightest tone and get increasingly dark until the last block is very dark. Extension: Underneath, draw a circle and then shade it so that it looks like a sphere. Due in Week 18

Wk 18 Find a fabric or wallpaper design by the Swedish designer Hanna Werning. On half of a page of your sketchbook, make an accurate copy of it. Underneath write the artist's name, the title of the piece and the date it was made. Use the vocabulary sheet to describe the work in 2 or 3 sentences. See the work of Hanna Werning here.

Week 19 On half of page 19 of your sketchbook, draw an image by the artist Lyubov Popova. You can use any materials. Click here to see some of her paintings.

Write 2 facts about her and one opinion about her work. Find info here:

Week 20 On half a page of your sketchbook, draw an image inspired by the artist Gillian Ayres. You can use any materials. Click this link to see some paintings by her. Write that your composition was inspired by the artist

WK 21  - Catch-up week. Finish any incomplete work in the Map of Life project. Complete any missing work.

 

Wk 22 Find some abstract paintings that you like on the link :                                                            

On half a page of your sketchbook draw a frame and inside it make your own abstract design based on your choices. Write an explanation of your  picture by the side of it.

Set up your sketchbook for your visit to the Tate Gallery: On p4 draw the title, "CITYSCAPE" and underneath draw 4 frames. On p5 draw the title "JMW TURNER" and underneath draw 4 frames. Due in week 33.
