Year 7 Homework

Wk 1 On half of page 2 of your sketchbook, draw 6 frames and fill each with a different type of shading. Look at this example for inspiration.

Study the pictures by Mary Fedden here
Choose one of them and make a copy of it in colour on half of page 3 in your sketchbook. Using your vocabulary sheet, write two comments about her work.

Study the pictures by Emma Dibben here:
 find a tin or jar in your kitchen cupboard and draw it on half of page 3 in your sketchbook. Add detail like you can see in Emma Dibben's pieces.

Wk 5 Study the portraits by Samella Lewis here:
Choose one and copy it on half of page 6 in your sketchbook. Write at least 2 sentences about the picture; comment on colour, expression, style, realism.

Wk 09 Find a fabric or wallpaper design by the British designer Althea McNish. On half of p9 of your sketchbook, make an accurate copy of it (or a detail from it). Wk 7 - On half of page 7, draw an eye, as shown to you in class. Use pencil and a full range of shading. Ensure you shade the area of skin around the eye. Due on Tues 15th Nov
 

Wk 10 Find a fabric or wallpaper design by the  designer Hanna Werning. On half of p9 of your sketchbook, make an accurate copy of it (or a detail from it). Underneath write the artist's name, the title of the piece and the date it was made. Use the vocabulary sheet to describe the work in 2 or 3 sentences. See the work of Hanna Werning here:

Week 11: On p10 of your sketchbook, draw a picture of a leaf - try to capture the beautiful autumn colours. Look here for brilliant examples:

Wk 13.2 - Catch-up Week: Complete any unfinished homework pieces. Check your Face Evaluation Improve your work. Respond to teacher comments.

Wk 13 - On page 11 of your sketchbook draw a long rectangle as shown to you in class. Divide it into 5 equal sections. Shade each section in a progressively darker tone. Start with the lightest tone and get increasingly dark until the last block is very dark. Extension: Underneath, draw a circle and then shade it so that it looks like a sphere. Due in Thursday 5th Jan 2023

Wk 14 - On page 12 of your sketchbook, draw a small section of a patterned cloth in your house. Use a tea-towel, pillowcase, cushion cover, curtain etc. Use colour. Due on Tuesday 17th Jan.

Wk 15 - On page 12 of your sketchbook, draw three shapes. Fill one with a pattern of Red and Green, one with a pattern of blue and orange and the third with a pattern of yellow and purple.  7& Due on Tuesday 24th Jan.  7A Due Thursday 26th Jan  Find out the term for these pairs of colours.

Wk 17- Make an arrangement of between 8 & 12 coloured shapes. Use collage, drawing or painting. Use regular and irregular shapes. Vary their size. You can overlap the shapes. Do this on P18 of your book. 7& Due Tuesday 7th Feb    7A Due Thursday 9th Feb 

Week 18- Finish the Evaluation started in class Due in Week 19, after Half-Term

Wk 22- Catch up week. Check through your sketchbook and complete any unfinished or missed homework, modify or improve existing pieces, or respond to any teacher comments. 

Wk 21- On P20 of your book, make a drawing of your final design for the "Order and Chaos" painting. Please label it with the techniques you plan to use.
7A Due  - Thursday 16th March

Wk 23- Write an Evaluation of the Abstract Project. Use the guidance below to help.

Wk 27- On a page of your sketchbook, design your final Mask, showing the decoration and showing how it will be constructed. Label your drawings.

Wk 26 - Look at the images of cardboard masks in the link below. On half a page of your sketchbook, make some studies showing how masks are constructed. Label your drawings.

Wk 28- See your revision, HERE

Wk 30- Independent Research Project. Find out how to depict distance in a countryside view. 
You have 3 weeks to research this topic and present a final picture showing what you learnt. Make drawings and studies each week for homework. Work in your sketchbook. Present your final image in class on Thursday 29th June.
