Week 30: Research methods for making wire structures. Make some drawings on page 26. Make a drawing of your chosen animal showing how to build it. Bring your ideas to your group next week.
Week 29: Research animals suitable for the sculpture project by making a series of drawings on page 25 of your sketchbook. See these boards for inspiration or conduct your own research
 
Week 28: Learn the acronyms RED-P and SCuLPTT  in preparation for your Art Test.
RED-P stands for Record - Experiment - Develop - Presentation.
SCuLPTT stands for Shape, Colour, Line, Pattern, Tone and Texture.

 
Wk27: On half of p 23 of your sketchbook, redesign the front cover for a novel. Choose one from the collection here or select a favourite novel. Label it with significant information information. Due in your next lesson.
Week 25 and 26: On the the whole of  page 22 of your sketchbook design your final poster.  You need to focus on one Social Issue.
The Poster must have 1. Simple imagery 2. Block Lettering 3. Short slogan 4. Limited colour scheme: (Max 5 colours) 5 Areas of flat colour with no modulation of gradation.

 
Week 24: On the lower part of page 19 of your sketchbook design your own lettering style. Write the name of the style in the style. If you name your style "Elegance" write that word in the style. Look here for some examples of lettering styles:

Week 23 -  Catch up week. Ensure you have completed all your homework tasks. Improve or refine previous work and respond to marking. All homework tasks are listed below
Wk22 -  Select one poster and make a small copy of it on the whole of  page 18 of your sketchbook. List the 5 main features of good poster design and identify where your chosen poster uses each feature by using arrows.
  1. Limited colour scheme. 2 Minimal text.   3. Snappy slogan.
  4 Large, readable lettering style.   5 Simplified Imagery.
Week 21 -  Write an evaluation of the Fragmentation project. Do this on the whole of page 16.
Section 1. Write about the Cubism and David Hockney.
Section 2 describe taking your photographs of the typewriter.
Section 3 describe drawing the linear trainer drawings and then weaving.
Section 4. Explain the process of painting, including the colour combinations.
Section 5 Write a self assessment including 3 www and 3 ebi
Week 19 -  Have a look at the Cubist collages in the following link:
Choose one of them, and make a copy of it on half of page 14 of your sketchbook.
Week 18 -  Catch-up week: Improve, refine or correct any previous homework. Complete any homework you missed. Ensure all your pages are numbered.
Week 20 -  On half of page 15 of your sketchbook draw twelve triangles in three rows of four. Colour them in a range of complementary colours. You can use paint, colouring pencil, pens or a mixture of all. You can choose blue-orange, green-red or yellow-purple To aim high you can modulate the tone on each triangle.

Week 17 - Find two photographs of objects or faces; Either find in a magazine or print from a computer. Weave them together like you were shown in class and stick the resulting image on Page 14 of your sketchbook. Look here for advice.

Wk 16; Look at the image of a chair in the following link. It is a photo-montage by the British artist, David Hockney. Then, on Page 13 of your sketchbook, make a drawing of a David Hockney's photo-montage. Make sure you show the fragmented nature of the image. Week 12 - Draw a profile view of a training shoe. Draw it on half of page 12 of your sketchbook. Use pencil and employ as many diffrent types of shading as you can. Use the shading to make the shoe look 3 dimensional.

Week 10 - Find a picture of a well known singer or musician you like and on half of page 9 of your sketchbook, draw them. Add their name write down the style of music for which they are known.

Wk 8 - On half of P9 of your sketchbook, draw some musical instruments using balloint pen or fine liner. Lay down a coloured background first. You can draw one in detail or up to three more loosely. Sketch them first in pencil before inking them.  Look here for examples of find your own.

Week 5 - On half of Page 6 of your sketchbook draw the view from a window in your house; Concentrate on the buildings and other aspects of the street.

Week 7 -  Improvement Homework: Choose one of the pictures of a view from a window and make a copy of it on half of Page 7 of your book. Follow the instructions in the demo in school.

Week 4 - Click the link below to find an urban image by the artist Romare Bearden. Choose one and make a copy on HALF OF PAGE 6 of your sketchbook. Add the artist's name and the title of the painting and then write two sentences about the painting using your Art Vocabulary sheet.

Week 3 - On page 5, make at least 2 and no more than 4 prep sketches for your Urban Main Piece. They should be coloured and annotated.  Notes should indicate the materials you plan to use and the methods you aim to employ.  You must use some of the imagery from the prep studies.

Week 2 - Click the link below to find an image by the artist Steven Wiltshire. Choose one and make a copy on half of page 3 of your sketchbook. Add the artist's name and the title of the painting and then write two sentences about the painting using your Art Vocabulary sheet.

Wk1 - Click the link below to find an image by the artist Nathan Bowen. Choose one and make a copy on half of page 3 of your sketchbook. Add the artist's name and the title of the painting and then write two sentences about the painting using your Art Vocabulary sheet.

In your Year 8 sketchbook - on page 1 make a title page using the phrase, "URBAN ENVIRONMENT". On page 2 draw two frames. In the top one make a city skyline like this                                   and in the bottom frame draw your name in graffiti style like in this example:
