Wk 13 - Catch up week. Ensure that you have completed all the tasks set this term for homework. Respond to teacher comments. Add your own writing, particularly the names of the artists you have studied.

CHALLENGE : In the back of your sketchbook draw a kitchen utensil, like, for example, a whisk, can opener or a corkscrew

Wk 12 - On half of page 13 of your sketchbook make a fully shaded drawing of a training shoe in profile view (from the side) Use pencil only. Look at the link below for profile views of trainers. Ensure you use the full range of shading in yours

Wk 11 - Working from your studies in class, design a final idea for your Main Piece in the Music project. This must include at least two of the techniques you have used in the prep work and you must include the image of at least one instrument. You must sketch the composition, use colour and add notes explaining the materials you will use. You may have started this in class.

Add the artist's name, the title of the painting and then write two sentences about the painting using your Art Vocabulary sheet.

Week 5 -  Catch up week.  Ensure you have completed all your homework tasks. Improve or refine previous work and respond to marking. All homework tasks are listed below.
Complete an extension task if you want to: Draw something from the city on page 4 of your sketchbook.

Week 4 - Have a look at the painting "Radiator Building - Night, New York" by the amazing Georgia O'Keeffe. Make a copy of it on half of page 3 of your sketchbook. Challenge: use tone to show that it is a picture at night.

Write three sentences about the picture:

Year 8 Art Independent Research Project.
Research an Artist that specialised in Self Portraiture. Find out information, stories and facts about the artist. Present some of their images and make your own versions. You could try making your own self portrait in their style. There are many famous examples such as Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh, Kathe Kollwitz and Rembrandt van Rijn but you can also find your own. Present your findings in a Powerpoint presentation.
Assessment: Distinction, Merit, Pass (or Fail).

Deadline is week 33:

Wk26 - This is a catch-up Week. Look through your sketchbook to check you have completed all the homework tasks.
CHALLENGE: there is also an optional challenge this week - make a detailed "Zentangle" pattern like the ones shown in this link. Use a ballpoint or ink-flow pen or a fineliner

 
Wk25 -  On half a page of your sketchbook, copy an image by the Designer Allison Glancey. Write three sentences about her. See her work here:
Wk24 -  Easter Challenge: draw a bunch of keys: Use pencil or any other art materials. Watch the video for tips: This task is optional
Wk24.2 -  There is no homework this week. But make sure you are up to date when you come to lessons next week.
Wk23 -  Select one poster from the link below and make a small copy of it in the middle of page 18 of your sketchbook. List the 5 main features of good poster design and identify where your chosen poster uses each feature by using arrows.
 1 Limited colour scheme 2 Minimal text  3. Snappy slogan. 4 Large, readable lettering.  5 Simplified Imagery.

Wk 22- No set Homework this week.

The Challenge: draw some 3D lettering. See this link for examples and have a go yourself.

Wk 21- On p15 of your sketchbook, write an evaluation of your Fragmentation project. 1.Write about the artists you studied. 2. Write about the drawing the training shoes. 3. Write about weaving your drawings 4. Write about how you painted your woven image. 5. Write a self-assessment. See the details given in class

Wk 20 No Homework this week. Challenge: take some photographs of the sky, sunsets, sunrises, clouds etc

Wk 19 As shown in class, make three pattern/designs one using blue/orange, one using yellow/purple and one using red/green. Do this on half of page 14  of your book.
